Richard Mupumha

Biography

Richard Mupumha (b. 1963, Makoni, Zimbabwe) is a Shona stone sculptor who modelled clay animals and carved wood as a child before becoming a full-time sculptor in 1993. He cites his "forefathers' spirits" as inspiration. He has held workshops and exhibitions in Germany (1996, 1998, 2002) and Spain (2002), and shown at the National Gallery and Springstone Gallery in Zimbabwe. Awards include First Prize, Art for Charity (Swiss-Zimbabwean Rotary, 2016) and NAMA Mixed Media finalist (2013).
