Nhamo Jasi

Biography

Nhamo Jasi (b. 1 January 1978, Mutoko District, Zimbabwe) is a Shona stone sculptor. With no formal art training, he learned to carve at the Chitungwiza Art Centre, inspired by Nobert Shamhuyarira. Just two years after taking up stone, he held his first exhibition at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe (1998) at age 20. Now a full-time artist based at Chitungwiza Arts Centre in Harare, he works mainly in stones like green serpentine, focusing on human figures and expressions.
