Pheoleen Gandari

Biography

Pheoleen Gandari (b. 1979) discovered art at Zengeza school in Chitungwiza, Harare, and then senior sculptor Newman Chikuni inspired him to carve stone. Gandari began assisting Chikuni on weekends and was soon producing his own work. He shared a workshop with a fellow artist before joining the Chitungwiza Arts Centre in 2001. His sculpture captures the emotion of daily life and events, and is held in collections worldwide, including the United Nations Art Collection at UNESCO.
