Biography
Newman Chikuni (born 1956 in Mhondoro, Zimbabwe) is a second‑generation Shona stone sculptor. Drawn to clay and wood as a child, he worked various jobs before turning to sculpture full time from 1987. Inspired by first‑generation master Albert Mamvura, he carves almost exclusively in springstone and leopard rock, producing powerful, pared‑down forms. His work has been shown in major exhibitions, including at the National Gallery in Harare.
